About Austin College

Austin College is a private liberal arts college in Sherman, which is a city in the US state of Texas serving as the county seat of Grayson County, with a population that exceeds 38 400 people, as estimated during the 2009 census.

The college was established in 1849 by Princeton-educated missionary Dr. Daniel Baker, and was originally located in Huntsville, TX. It was moved to its present location in 1876 and became co-ed in 1918, in 1930, merging with the all female Texas Presbyterian College.

It presently offers its students a number of about 35 majors and pre-professional programs for study, also offering them the chance to create a specialized major to match their academic interests.

Athletics

Austin's athletic teams are nicknamed the Kangaroos, and they compete in NCAA Division III.
